Why Champions of Hope? The name of this organization is about as significant and impactful as what we actually do. This organization is rooted in the idea that students need more than just a teacher. They need someone to care for them, they need someone that recognizes their humanity, they need hope and they need a champion.
Linked is one element of our inspiration, Rita Pierson's "Every kid needs a champion" TedTalk from 2013. If you have never had the pleasure of listening to this amazing woman's words, this is your chance! If you have seen it before, then you know that it is worth another listen! |
Hope. It is a universal feeling that everyone has had the chance of experiencing at least once in their life. But what happens when hope feels far away? What do we do when our own students are struggling to hope?
Kids at Hope was founded with these questions in mind. It is now a nationally recognized program that has relationships as it's foundation. Relationships and genuine interest for your student's futures inherently breeds hope for their future. When you, as the educator can express the hope you have for your students, they will follow suit knowing that they have you in their corner. |
